Family Time

This week has been a very sad time for my family and me. My father became seriously ill Saturday night and passed away Monday, October 6th, on his 83rd birthday. I spent most of the week with my family in the St. Louis area.

I am dedicating this to my dad, David Parrish, who read this blog every Saturday morning. I will miss him more than I can say!

My dad was 83 years old. He lead a very full life. While he had some vascular issues in the past, he was thought to be in relatively good shape. He worked out regularly at his health club and participated in water volleyball for seniors. He loved to play ping pong, bags, dominoes and cards with my children whenever he had the chance.

He grew up on a farm in Walnut Grove, Missouri where he first developed the strength that he maintained throughout his life. His career choice was civil engineering and this also kept him very active. He retired at age 64 and then continued working as a consulting engineer for another 11 years. Yes, he worked until he was 75 years old! This being said, his passing has come as a bit of a shock to our family.

My dad was such a great man. I feel fortunate to have had such a caring and loving father. Our family has been richly blessed.

Enjoy your weekend.

Sincerely,
Mrs. J. Bretl
